STATEMENT
My work originates from the concept of home, and common house-hold practices. Needlework, embroidery, and such crafts, are generally associated with the feminine world, and I am interested in manipulating the simple objects which are utilised for these techniques. These objects with their nostalgic charm, are typically present in any household sewing kit, and are reminiscent of common household activities. These traditional materials embody a new meaning when worked through accumulation and excess. The importance no longer lies within the true nature of the element, but within the interpretation of its cumulus and reinvention of its exposition to the common world. Through the eye of the spectator, varied interpretations are stimulated on a visual and sensorial level.
Mi obra tiene sus orígenes en el hogar, en prácticas comunes como la costura y el bordado, generalmente asociadas al mundo femenino. Me interesa manipular objetos simples ligados a estas técnicas, los cuales se pueden encontrar en el costurero de una casa y están cargados de recuerdos que nos remiten a la vida cotidiana del hogar. Estos materiales tradicionales toman un nuevo sentido al trabajarlos mediante la acumulación y el exceso, donde la importancia no radica en la materialidad propia del elemento, si no en la interpretación de su cúmulo y la reinvención de su exposición al mundo corriente a través del ojo del espectador, queriendo estimular en ellos diferentes impresiones a nivel visual y sensorial.
